I had a blast in Breckenridge over the weekend! Colorado is really pretty, I’m jealous of those of you who call CO home. We spent two days at Breck, one at Keystone, got silly drunk at Cecelia’s Friday night, ate tacos at Rita’s, and made our way to a dispensary or 4. So we left no area of ski/snowboard culture untouched.

I think the best part of the trip was/is my friends. We were all sitting around making dinner one night and one guy pipes up “Pretty fucking cool to be on a ski trip at 30+ with the same heads that you were hanging out with when you were 15.”

It’s true, whenever we do stuff like this everyone does whatever it takes to make sure they can go. People piss off their employers/husbands/wives/girlfriends/boyfriends, hire babysitters, and spend money they might not even have just so that we can all go on a trip somewhere. It’s tough to keep so many people so close, but we just do it somehow. I’m really thankful for that.

Only one downside to the trip... I spent some time in Area 51 at keystone, I was feeling really good and got cocky on one of the larger features... I bit it hard and now I am sooo sore! Also the altitude was tough to get used to, I have never drank so much water in my life.

Thanks to all of the oppos who provided suggestions/advice.

I love skiing out west. For many years I wanted to move to CO, but somehow it just never happened. We took many group trips to ski areas out there though. I’ve never skied at Breckenridge, but when I was younger our family spent a week at Winter Park and it was just incredible. Snowed almost every day and it feels like we spent the whole week in knee deep powder. Coming from the northeast, we had no idea what we were doing with snow that deep and it was all awesome!

I love it here. Just wish I could get out and ski more - none of my friends go.

For whatever reason I always make it out west during their worst conditions lol. Conditions were good in CO but no fresh snow :(. When we were in Tahoe 2 years ago conditions were bad even for Tahoe, we did however get one day at Kirkwood with 1.5feet of fresh snow. To be honest I think we just go too late in the season.

I’ve been snowboarding for almost 20 years and the most snow I have ever been in was in VT! We went to Jay Peak on a unicorn day...waist deep, it was the best!

or you could just move here...a little Warren Miller gem from the 90s on skinny skis and before helmets

Yea! lol I heard a lot of people have been doing that within the last few years. A friend told me something like a quarter million new residents. CO ticks a lot of boxes for me, maybe in the future.

Jay Peak rocks it! They are always good. I prefer Mad River on and off trail skiing myself, I love bashing through trees and jumping down cliffs. Jay Peak is about as close as it gets to that on a board.

I’ve always heard that MRG is amazing. One day we even considered strapping on skis just to check it out. I learned to ski first, but haven’t been on a pair since I was 14 or so. We bagged the idea, figuring that we wouldn’t be good enough to ski the areas that we enjoy.

There is some crazy challenging terrain when the snow coverage is complete. It needs deep snow, but then there are ice waterfalls in the woods to jump off and all kinds of crazy stuff, if you want it. If you don’t, they have some of the best ungroomed trails around! The moguls get very, very big.

Actually, March and April are usually the best months for snow here in Colorado... But this March has been wierd as hell... 60's and 70's for weeks now.... Bummer there wasn’t fresh pow for you- but rollicking through mashed potatoes is pretty damn fun too...
